Iran has confirmed that its Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, will participate in the upcoming BRICS summit in India, marking a pivotal chapter in diplomatic relations between the two nations. This announcement, made by Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaiel Baghaei during an India Today Global interview, underscores the robust partnership between Iran and India, both active in the BRICS and SCO alliances.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the upcoming meetings in New Delhi, Baghaei emphasized Iran's eagerness for bilateral engagements, particularly with India's foreign minister. This event underscores New Delhi's prominent role in international diplomacy, as it prepares to host the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting, a significant event under India's 2026 chairship of the expanded alliance.

The visit comes amid US-Iran tensions that erupted in February, with Araghchi and India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, maintaining open lines of communication to address West Asia's escalating geopolitical tensions. In these talks, Araghchi provided updates on the tumultuous region, advocating for enhanced BRICS collaboration to maintain global peace.
