India and Norway Forge Green Strategic Partnership Amid Global Challenges

In Oslo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre pledged to fortify their economic partnership by adopting a Green Strategic Partnership, during PM Modi's two-day visit. The leaders aimed to enhance collaboration across critical sectors, underpinning a mutual commitment to sustainability.

Highlights of the bilateral talks included efforts to double trade by 2030 and attract USD 100 billion in Norwegian investments, with the potential to create a million jobs in India. Both nations also condemned cross-border terrorism and expressed support for India's bid for permanent membership in a reformed UN Security Council.

Additionally, discussions covered expansive cooperation in the blue economy, critical technologies, and defense. Norway joined the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative, reflecting a shared commitment to a rule-based maritime order. Plans for a joint digitalisation group and further Arctic collaboration were also on the agenda.
