Jensen comes in exchange for Bowey in Capitals

The Washington Capitals acquired defenseman Nick Jensen from the Detroit Red Wings on Friday in exchange for defenseman Madison Bowey. The Capitals will also receive a fifth-round draft pick in 2019, while the Red Wings get a second-round pick in 2020.

Jensen, 28, has recorded 15 points in 60 games in his third NHL season, tied for his most points with another month-plus still remaining on the schedule. The former fifth-round draft pick in 2009 was on the ice for 42 goals in five-on-five situations, second most on the Red Wings. Jensen can become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Bowey, 23, a second-round draft pick in 2013, played in 33 games with the Capitals, scoring a goal with five assists. His goal was a game-winner at Ottawa on Dec. 29.
