Yoga Luminary to Lead Global Celebration in Times Square

Padma Shri HR Nagendra, President of Bengaluru's S-VYASA University and revered yoga scholar, will lead the International Day of Yoga event at Times Square on June 21. Organized by the Indian Consulate in New York, the celebration aims to strengthen cultural ties and promote yoga's global influence.

Padma Shri HR Nagendra, a leading figure in the world of yoga and President of S-VYASA University in Bengaluru, will headline the International Day of Yoga celebrations at New York's Times Square on June 21. The event is anticipated to attract thousands from across the globe and is organized by the Consulate General of India in New York.

Nagendra, recognized as a preeminent yoga scholar, will be joined by S-VYASA's Vice Chancellor, NK Manjunath, for the celebrations. Before the main event, Nagendra will open a three-day Yoga and Wellness Retreat from June 12 to 14 at YO1 Longevity and Health Resort in Monticello, New York. The retreat includes yoga sessions, meditation, and lectures by notable speakers including Cardiologist Samin K Sharma and ACO founder Raj Bansal.

The visit is supported by the Rajasthan Association of North America, with Prem Bhandari playing a pivotal role in organizing yoga events in major venues. The Times Square celebration reflects the deepening cultural and diplomatic connections between India and the US, epitomized by PM Modi's initiative which established June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.
