India Grateful for Oman's Swift Rescue of Crew from MT Marivex
India expresses gratitude to Oman for rescuing 24 Indian crew members from the MT Marivex tanker, which caught fire after a US Navy attack off the Omani coast. The tanker attempted to breach a US-led blockade on Iran. All crew were safely rescued by Omani authorities.
India has expressed profound gratitude to the Omani government for its prompt action in the successful rescue of 24 Indian crew members from the MT Marivex, a tanker sailing under the Palau flag. The vessel caught fire following an attack by the US Navy off the coast of Oman, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
During a media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the swift response of the Omani authorities, stating that India's embassy promptly contacted them for assistance. The Embassy is maintaining communication with the rescued seafarers to ensure their ongoing safety after the ordeal.
The incident occurred when the tanker, suspected of trying to break a blockade against Iran, was disabled by the US forces. A US Central Command report accused the MT Marivex of attempting to evade sanctions and failing to heed the US Navy's directions, prompting a precision strike. Despite the tense situation, all Indian crew members aboard were safely evacuated, with Oman praised for their effective rescue operations.
