External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has reinforced India's commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as solutions to the numerous major conflicts currently unsettling the world. In Sofia, after a meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of resilient supply chains and safeguarding maritime trade amidst these volatile times.
The minister pointed out the mounting global uncertainties stemming from conflicts, economic insecurities, and the recent pandemic. He asserted India's stance as a leader of the Global South in advocating for unhindered maritime trade and emphasized the importance of energy, food, and fertilizer security.
Jaishankar's interactions in Bulgaria included high-level talks focusing on strengthening cooperation with the European Union and enhancing India-Bulgaria relations. The discussions covered broad areas like the India-EU FTA, strategic and defense cooperation, and mutual mobility agreements. These engagements reflect India's broader foreign policy objectives amid a world in transition.
