Ethiopia's Tigray region government announces it has entered a defensive war

​Ethiopia's ‌Tigray regional government ​said ‌in a statement Wednesday that ‌its fighters have entered ‌a defensive war against ⁠federal ​troops, ⁠hours after Tigrayan forces ⁠seized the ​main airport in ⁠the northern region.

There ⁠was ​no immediate comment ⁠from the federal ⁠government.
