Merz slams former German chancellor Schroeder's attendance at Putin's birthday, spokesperson says

​Germany's ​Chancellor ‌Friedrich Merz was "deeply ​outraged" ‌by former chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's visit to ‌Russian President Vladimir ‌Putin's home on the occasion of ⁠his ​birthday, ⁠a German government ⁠spokesperson said on Friday.

"The ​chancellor sees... it ⁠is downright immoral ⁠for Mr. ​Schroeder to attend ⁠such a celebration," ⁠the ⁠spokesperson said.
