Germany's Merz seeks greater EU Commission powers for trade disputes

​German Chancellor Friedrich ‌Merz said ​on Wednesday he ‌would work with EU partners to give the ‌European Commission new ‌powers to react fast to unfair trade practices.

The ⁠EU ​Council ⁠will discuss giving "the European ⁠Commission a tool to ​react quickly without needing ⁠to refer the matter ⁠to the ​European Council," said Merz, speaking ⁠in Germany's lower house of ⁠parliament.
