Iran says US election results paused mediators' work over talks to end crisis

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi ‌said on Sunday that the results of ‌the US midterm elections have brought a pause to mediators' work with ‌regard to talks aimed at reaching ‌a deal between Tehran and Washington to end the crisis in the region. He told Iranian state TV that Iran will have to wait for mediators to resume a diplomatic path.

Democrats captured majorities in both the Senate and House in Tuesday's US election, prompting gloating from Iranian officials over the results, which were seen as a blow for US President Donald Trump.
