Leafs sign D Borgman to one-year extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenseman Andreas Borgman to a one-year, two-way contract extension worth $700,000 in 2019-20, the team announced Wednesday. Borgman, 23, has four goals and 11 assists in 39 games this season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.

He tallied three goals and eight assists in 48 games with the Maple Leafs during the 2017-18 campaign. Borgman originally signed with Toronto as a free agent in May 2017 after being named the Rookie of the Year in the Swedish Hockey League.
