Explosions rocked Afghanistan's capital of Kabul on Thursday, two officials said, but it was not clear if bombs had gone off or if rockets had been fired into the city, and there was no immediate word on any casualties or damage. "We have reports of explosions in the western part of Kabul. Investigations have been launched," said Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman at the interior ministry.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. A senior interior ministry official said the attackers could have targeted a large gathering of Shia Muslims attending a commemoration on the anniversary of a leader's death.
