Melba Shakabozha is going to attend the United Nation Youth Forum, which is slated to take place from March 11-12, 2019 at the United Nations headquarter in New York.

According to Lusaka Times, Melba Shakabozha, who was crowned Miss Universe Zambia 2018, has been selected as one of the young women speakers and will join teenage Hollywood Actress, Sara Rowe from Grey’s Anatomy and Nickelodeon, together with other young women activists from the UK, USA and other parts of the world. They will be speaking on the young women’s panel of Vision Voices.

The 63rd session of the United Nation Commission on the Status of Women (CSW63) will have two themes. The priority theme is: ‘Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls’. The review theme is: ‘Women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable development’.

“I am totally honoured to have this opportunity of attending and speaking at a United Nations Meeting to raise the voices of young women around the world,” 24-year old Melba Shakabozha (who represented Zambia at the Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok in December 2018) said.

“The Miss Universe Zambia strives to instil confidence in our young women to articulate social issue that affect the young generation,” Alice Musukwa, Country Director and Organiser of the Miss Universe Zambia Pageant said.
