UK's Labour Party Brexit spokesman Keir Starmer to request emergency debate in parliament

Britain's opposition Labour Party Brexit spokesman Keir Starmer will request an emergency debate in parliament on the length and purpose of an extension to the Article 50 Brexit negotiation period, the party said on Twitter.

Labour said on Wednesday Starmer would request a so-called SO24 emergency debate on the motion: "That this House (of Commons) has considered the matter of the length and purpose of the extension of the Article 50 process requested by the government."

Earlier, another Labour lawmaker asked for an emergency debate. Starmer's move is likely to take precedence over that.
