May to meet Macron for Brexit delay till June 30: Official

Theresa May will meet French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday ahead of a European Union summit where the British prime minister will ask to delay Brexit until June 30, her spokeswoman said on Thursday. On Wednesday, France threatened to reject May's request if she could not provide sufficient guarantees that Britain's parliament will approve her divorce deal.

The spokeswoman also told reporters that she "flatly rejected" any suggestion that a speech given by May late on Wednesday would put lawmakers at risk after the prime minister said the public had become tired of political infighting and game playing.
