A group representing British employers and the country's main trade union umbrella group jointly called on Prime Minister Theresa May to change her approach to Brexit and said the risk of a major hit to the economy had grown.
"Our country is facing a national emergency. Decisions of recent days have caused the risk of no deal to soar," the Confederation of British Industry and the Trades Union Congress said in a joint letter to May. "Firms and communities across the UK are not ready for this outcome. The shock to our economy would be felt by generations to come."
