Grizzlies sign Zeller for remainder of season

Free agent center Tyler Zeller will finish the season with the Memphis Grizzlies, the team announced on Friday. Zeller, who joined the Atlanta Hawks on a 10-day contract earlier this month, fills a hardship exception granted to the Grizzlies.

He replaces guard Dusty Hannahs, who was waived. Zeller, 29, was a first-round pick out of North Carolina in 2012 but never played for the Dallas Mavericks, who traded the 7-footer to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After two seasons with the Cavs, Zeller spent three seasons with the Boston Celtics and a year in Milwaukee and Brooklyn. He has 165 starts in 408 career games, averaging 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
