Trump denies reports claiming return of family separation policy

U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he was not returning to a policy of separating children from family members who had illegally crossed the border, one day after media reports that his administration was considering bringing it back.

Outgoing Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen oversaw the "zero tolerance" prosecution policy that led to the separations, which garnered legal challenges and a public outcry that eventually led to the policy's reversal.
