Blast in Afghan capital, no word on casualties

A powerful blast went off in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Wednesday but there was no immediate information about its cause or if there were casualties, an interior ministry spokesman said.

The blast, in the west of the city during the morning rush-hour, sent a cloud of grey smoke billowing into the sky. (Writing by Robert Birsel)
