The bodies of a couple were found hanging from a tree at Lilhar village in the district on Friday morning, police said. According to police, 21-year-old Anil, a labourer, and 16-year-old girl of the same village were having an affair and wanted to get married.

Since their families were against their relationship, both left their homes on Thursday night and allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree, they said.

A large number of police personnel have been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident, police said.

Meanwhile, the family members of both the deceased have charged each other with murder, they said.

No complaint in this regard has been received from either side in this matter, police said, adding that further action will be taken on the basis of a complaint and a post-mortem report.
