Husband, in-laws booked for dowry harassment in Himachal

A case of harassment for dowry has been registered against the husband and in-laws of a newly married woman in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district on Saturday, police said.

In a complaint filed by the victim's father Harjit Singh, a resident of Jalari village, he alleged that his daughter was tortured for dowry by her husband Ravi and her in-laws.

The couple got married in December 2022 and soon after the marriage, Ravi, a resident of Una district started beating the woman for dowry, Singh said in his complaint.

Station House Officer (Nadaun) Yog Raj said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
