A brief session of the Kerala Assembly would be held from November 26 to December 13.
The state cabinet, which met Wednesday, recommended to Governor P Sathasivam, to convene the assembly.
The session assumes significance as it is being held after the devastating floods during the south-west monsoon, which claimed 493 lives and caused widespread destruction.
The state is also facing violent protests from Ayyappa devotees over the implementation of the Supreme Court verdict on the entry of women of all ages into Sabarimala temple.
