Syria's Assad says would welcome more Russian troops - RIA

Damascus would welcome any Russian proposals to set up new military bases or boost its troop numbers in Syria, the RIA news agency quoted Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad as saying on Thursday.

Assad, in Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said Russian military presence in his country did not need to be temporary.
