China appoints Chen Ruifeng as head of national religious affairs administration

China has appointed Chen Ruifeng as head of the National Religious Affairs Administration, the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party's central committee said on Wednesday. Chen was also named as deputy director of the United Front Work Department, it said.

The former head of the administration, Cui Maohu, was under investigation for serious violations of law and discipline, the anti-graft regulator said earlier this month.
