Three persons, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the alleged murder of an employee of Central Coalfield Ltd (CCL) in Jharkhand’s Chatra district, police said on Monday. The three persons were on Sunday apprehended from Honhe village in the district, a senior officer said. The body of Sanjay Mahto, a resident of the village in Tandwa area, around 110 km from the state capital Ranchi, was found on railway tracks on March 24.

Mahto’s family members had on March 23 lodged a complaint, alleging that he was abducted, police said. ''A day after, his body was found in mutilated condition on railway tracks in Chatra district,” the officer said.

A special investigation team, formed on the direction of Chatra superintendent of police (SP) Rakesh Ranjan, has been probing into the alleged murder of the CCL employee. ''The main reason behind Mahto's murder was his alleged illicit relationship with a woman. Also, there was a land dispute between Mahto and a group of people in his village,'' Deputy Superintendent of Police Tandwa, Shambu Kumar Singh, said.

''We also found involvement of 8-10 people in the case,'' he added.
