Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Wednesday he was banning the use of unauthorised civilian drones in the city, after a spate of drone strikes in Russia that authorities have blamed on Ukraine.

Sobyanin announced the move on Telegram six days before the May 9 Victory Day holiday, when Russia holds a huge military parade on Moscow's Red Square to commemorate the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War Two.
