Gutkha worth Rs 23 lakh seized in Mumbai

Gutkha or scented tobacco mix worth Rs 23 lakh has been seized in Mumbai's Nagpada area, police said on Saturday.

Manufacture and sale of Gutkha is banned in Maharashtra.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided several godowns in the area on Friday and seized cartons of Gutkha packets from seven places, an official said.

Six persons were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Food Safety and Standards Act, he added.
