A 50-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death with sticks on Friday over land in Kokhraj Police Station area of the district, police said. Munnalal, a resident of an area under the Saini Police Station, had purchased 4.5 bigha land in Naugarhiya village, said SHO Vinod Kumar Maurya.

The land was locked in a dispute with Ramchandra and Roopchandra, and the district officials were scheduled to measure the land on Friday in presence of both the parties. When Munnalal reached the disputed property, Ramchandra and Roopchandra were already present.

There was an argument between the two sides, and as it escalated, Ramchandra and Roopchandra beat Munnalal with sticks, killing him on the spot, the SHO said. A case has been registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Munnalal's family, he said.

The body of the victim has been sent for post mortem and efforts are on to nab the culprits, he added.
