The European Union will try to cut its strategic dependencies on China, while maintaining cooperation with the economic powerhouse, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Friday. "We must prevent strategic dependencies. It will take a few years for companies to diversify, but it will remain an economic cooperation which is also necessary in terms of climate policies and food security," Scholz said about the EU's China policy after a summit with other EU leaders in Brussels.

"It's not about decoupling, but about derisking."
