Pentagon welcomes resumption of US-China military communications

The Pentagon welcomed on Wednesday the decision to resume high-level military communications with China that were severed by Beijing more than a year ago and said the agreement between President Joe Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping was key to avoiding inadvertent conflict.

"Maintaining open lines of communication between our two militaries is essential to avoid misunderstandings and miscalculations that could lead to crisis or conflict," a Pentagon spokesperson said.
