New Ecuador President Noboa pledges at inauguration to reduce violence, bring progress

Ecuador's new President Daniel Noboa pledged on Thursday to reduce soaring violence in the country and bring progress for citizens in his inauguration speech.

Noboa, 35, won a runoff vote in October on promises to restore security and create jobs in the South American country, which has faced economic challenges since the coronavirus pandemic and unprecedented violence blamed on drug trafficking gangs.
