International Red Cross says it concludes release of 16 Gaza-held hostages

The International Committee of the Red Cross said on Wednesday it had successfully facilitated the release and transfer of 16 hostages held in Gaza by Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

The neutral, Swiss-based organisation is tasked with the release of Gaza-based hostages and Palestinians in Israeli detention centres under the terms of a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas.
