Putin says in Victory Day speech that Russia won't let anyone threaten it

President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia would do everything to avoid global confrontation, but would not allow anyone to threaten it, in a speech to mark the anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two.

Putin, who said Russia's nuclear forces were always at combat readiness, was addressing massed ranks of Russian servicemen on Red Square.
