Supreme Court Bars YSRCP MLA from Vote Counting Station

The Supreme Court has prohibited YSR Congress Party MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy from entering the vote counting station of the Macherla assembly constituency on June 4. This decision follows an incident where Reddy allegedly damaged an EVM at a polling station. The Court criticized the anticipatory bail granted to him as a 'mockery of justice'.

The Supreme Court has taken a stern stance against YSR Congress Party MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, barring him from the vote counting station of the Macherla assembly constituency on June 4. This directive comes in response to Reddy's alleged vandalism of an EVM at a polling station, an act that has drawn widespread condemnation.

A vacation bench comprising Justices Aravind Kumar and Sandeep Mehta reviewed video footage of the May 13 incident and sharply criticized the anticipatory bail granted to Reddy by the Andhra Pradesh High Court, calling it a 'sheer mockery of justice'.

The Supreme Court has instructed Reddy to steer clear of the vote counting premises and its vicinity. Furthermore, it has directed the state High Court to adjudicate the pending petition against Reddy without bias from the interim protection he received on May 28. As the Macherla assembly constituency candidate from the ruling YSRCP, Reddy's actions have marred the election process, raising grave concerns about electoral integrity.
