In a tragic incident, Nazir Masih, an elderly Christian man critically injured in a mob attack over blasphemy allegations in Pakistan's Punjab province, has succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed on Monday.

The violent incident, which occurred on May 25, saw enraged Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists assault members of the Christian community in Mujahid Colony, Sargodha district. The mob injured two Christians and 10 policemen, while vandalizing and burning homes and properties.

Sources reveal the mob targeted Masih’s residence and shoe factory, accusing him of Quran desecration. Despite police intervention that rescued Masih and others, he later died in hospital. Authorities have arrested 140 suspects and booked over 450 people on terrorism charges.
