Elderly Man from PoK Apprehended for Crossing LoC

An elderly man, Munir Hussain from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, was apprehended for illegally crossing the Line of Control into the Indian territory in Poonch district. Preliminary questioning suggests the crossing might have been inadvertent.

An elderly man from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was apprehended after he illegally crossed over into the Indian territory along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.

The individual, identified as 72-year-old Munir Hussain from Battal village of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), was taken into custody at Nangi Takarai forward area near Ghora post in Mankote sector of Mendhar sub-division on Tuesday evening, according to officials.

An Army patrol observed Hussain, who was unarmed, moving into the Indian territory and attempting to flee when challenged. Preliminary questioning of Hussain indicates he might have crossed the LoC inadvertently.
