In a major crackdown, Punjab police have successfully thwarted a significant terrorist plot by arresting 15 militants from various banned organizations. Among those apprehended are members of Daesh (ISIS), Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), revealing a coordinated plan to target critical infrastructure across the province.
The arrests were made during intelligence-based operations in multiple cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad, among others. Authorities recovered substantial explosive materials and weapons from the suspects, including 5977 grams of explosives, an IED bomb, a 30 bore pistol, and various prohibited ammunition.
This operation follows a previous raid last month where 44 terrorists associated with ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were detained. The ongoing efforts underscore the relentless pursuit by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to neutralize threats and ensure public safety.
