161 Including Samajwadi MP Caught Violating Election Code on Counting Day

Samajwadi MP Sanatan Pandey and 160 others were booked for allegedly breaking the Model Code of Conduct during ballot counting. They obstructed traffic and violated prohibitory orders. In a significant breach of electoral protocols, Samajwadi Party MP Sanatan Pandey, along with 160 others, has been implicated in violating the Model Code of Conduct on counting day. Police sources revealed on Sunday that the FIR was officially filed at the Ballia police station by Station House Officer Sanjay Singh on Saturday.

The charge sheet indicates that on June 4, amidst the crucial vote tallying process, the accused group obstructed traffic flow in Ballia, causing a severe jam. This act was identified as a blatant defiance of the mandated model code of conduct.

The charges against them include unlawful assembly under section 143, obstructing public servants in the discharge of duty under section 186, violation of prohibitory orders under section 188, and wrongful restraint under section 341. Authorities have confirmed that a thorough investigation into the matter is currently underway.
