Tragedy Strikes: Rickshaw Puller Dies in North Delhi Accident

A 45-year-old rickshaw puller was killed and another injured after being hit by a luxury car near Ramjas College in north Delhi. The car's driver, lawyer Virendra Mehta, was arrested. The incident is under investigation, though initial reports indicate no alcohol involvement.

A tragic accident occurred near the main gate of Ramjas College in north Delhi on Sunday, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old rickshaw puller and injuring another. According to police, the incident involved a luxury car owned by lawyer Virendra Mehta.

The driver, a 56-year-old Mukherjee Nagar resident, was taken into custody and underwent a medical examination. Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) M K Meena reported that the Maurice Nagar police station was alerted to the accident at 1.16 pm. The police team found a white Audi Q3 at the scene, which had lost control and collided with the rickshaw pullers, Govind and Ashok, who were seated on a nearby bench.

The victims were rushed to Hindu Rao Hospital, where Govind was later transferred to LNJP and succumbed to his injuries. While a breath analyzer test ruled out alcohol intoxication, a blood sample was taken for further analysis. Legal proceedings are currently underway against the accused driver.
