The Delhi High Court has quashed the case against a 61-year-old man accused of outraging a woman's modesty after reaching an amicable settlement. The accused, instead of facing costs, has been ordered to plant 30 trees.

The petition filed under IPC section 354 saw Justice Anoop Kumar Mendiratta stating that further proceedings would be an abuse of the judicial process. Consequently, both the FIR and subsequent proceedings were quashed.

The court mandated the planting and upkeep of the trees, with non-compliance resulting in a Rs 30,000 penalty to the Delhi State Legal Services Authority. The court highlighted that while serious offences can't be quashed despite settlements, minor civil disputes resolved amicably should be treated differently.
