EU Demands Safeguards from Major Porn Sites Under Digital Services Act

The European Commission is intensifying its scrutiny of three of the world's biggest pornography sites, demanding that they submit detailed information by July 4 on actions taken to safeguard minors and curb gender-based violence online.

Under the newly enforced Digital Services Act (DSA), platforms like Pornhub, XVideos, and Stripchat, each registering over 45 million average monthly users, are required to adhere to stricter regulations to ensure user safety. Failure to comply may result in significant fines.

The Commission's call comes amid a broader push to enhance online protections, with an emphasis on safeguarding minors and preventing the dissemination of illegal content and images that infringe on fundamental rights. The companies are also urged to explain their internal compliance measures under the DSA.
