Ahmedabad Duo Arrested for Duping US Citizens in Loan Scam

Two men from Ahmedabad, Ajay Tomar and Rahul Mali, have been arrested in Indore for allegedly scamming US citizens by posing as loan agents. They used the Google Voice app to contact victims and trick them into sending gift vouchers as processing fees. The accused reportedly amassed Rs 15 lakh.

Ahmedabad residents Ajay Tomar and Rahul Mali were arrested in Indore for allegedly duping US citizens under the guise of offering loans, according to a police official.

The accused, both in their early 20s, were nabbed from a hotel in the Lasudia area. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Amrendra Singh stated that the duo had visited Madhya Pradesh for sightseeing.

Tomar, utilizing his past experience in a call center, allegedly contacted American citizens through Google Voice, convincing them to pay processing fees via gift vouchers. The scam reportedly netted Rs 15 lakh over the past year. Both face charges under IPC section 420 and further investigations are ongoing.
