Delhi Water Crisis: Minister Atishi's Indefinite Hunger Strike for Haryana's Water Share

Delhi Water Minister Atishi has started an indefinite hunger strike in Bhogal, South Delhi, demanding more water from Haryana. The protest, supported by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, and Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, aims to address the drastic water shortage affecting millions in Delhi.

Delhi Water Minister Atishi, determined to address the severe water crisis in the capital, commenced an indefinite hunger strike in Bhogal, South Delhi, on Friday. Her primary demand is to secure additional water from Haryana to mitigate the acute shortage that has plagued millions of Delhi residents.

The protest has garnered significant support, with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, AAP MP Sanjay Singh, and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj standing in solidarity with Atishi. A message from Chief Minister Kejriwal, currently in Tihar jail, was read out by his wife, expressing hope for the success of Atishi's fervent efforts.

In his message, CM Kejriwal highlighted the extreme suffering of Delhi's populace amid the intense heatwave, attributing the water crisis to reduced supplies from Haryana. He questioned the political motives behind Haryana's decision to cut Delhi’s water share and empathized with the distress faced by Delhi’s citizens.
