Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has taken a strong stance against the BJP regarding the flood management issues in Assam, asserting that the promises made by the Modi-Shah administration to make Assam flood-free have fallen flat.

According to officials, the situation remains dire as over four lakh people across several districts are enduring the harsh impacts of the deluge, with the death toll reaching 36.

Key rivers such as Kopili, Barak, and Kushiyara have breached danger levels. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also called for expedited relief and rescue efforts from the Assam government, emphasizing the need for prompt compensation for the affected families. In her appeal, she urged Congress workers to offer every possible assistance to those impacted.
