A man in Beed, Maharashtra, was caught with a suspicious bottle and syringe during a police recruitment drive, an official confirmed on Friday.

The candidate is allowed to continue in the recruitment process, but his results will hinge on the investigative findings, informed Nandkumar Thakur, Beed Superintendent of Police.

"During routine bag checks, we discovered the suspicious items. We've taken the candidate's blood samples, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be probing the case. We will proceed based on their findings," the SP stated.

With 17.76 lakh aspirants vying for 17,471 police constabulary positions, the recruitment drive that commenced on June 19 highlights intense competition.
