On Sunday, local police reported that a criminal case has been registered against unknown individuals for allegedly damaging a bust of India's first law minister, BR Ambedkar, in Barodia village. The villagers discovered the statue headless on government land in the morning and informed the police, according to Circle Officer Beni Prasad.

Prasad suggested the act was likely intended to provoke social unrest. Authorities have filed charges under section 295 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with defiling a place of worship.

News of the bust's damage quickly spread, leading Bhim Army activists to the scene, where they organized a protest in response to the act of vandalism.
