Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud has called upon litigants and lawyers to actively engage in a special Lok Adalat scheduled from July 29 to August 3. This initiative marks the 75th anniversary of the Supreme Court and aims at resolving pending cases amicably.
The CJI emphasized the necessity of addressing the large backlog of cases, highlighting that the Lok Adalat offers a technology-driven, informal solution for voluntary and consensual dispute resolution. He urged citizens and legal professionals to take advantage of this opportunity for faster justice delivery.
The Supreme Court stated that the special Lok Adalat is an integral component of the judicial system, promoting alternative dispute resolution and ensuring accessible and efficient justice for all. Cases with elements of settlement—such as matrimonial, property disputes, and motor accident claims—will be prioritized for speedy disposal.
