In a significant legal development, the Telangana High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The petition sought to challenge the legality of a Commission of Inquiry investigating alleged irregularities in the power sector during the previous BRS administration.
The court's ruling came from a bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti, who found no merit in Rao’s plea to declare the government's commission illegal. The inquiry focuses on power procurement from Chhattisgarh and the construction of thermal plants in Bhadradri and Yadadri by TS GENCO.
Rao, also known as KCR, contended that the commission led by retired Justice L Narasimha Reddy should be dissolved, alleging bias and political motivations. He further claimed that the Congress regime was using the inquiry to tarnish his government's achievements in ensuring 24x7 power supply.
