Customs officials at an international airport apprehended a Cameroonian national for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine valued at Rs 22 crore into the country, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.

The interception occurred last Friday after the accused disembarked from a flight originating in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During a thorough personal and baggage search, authorities discovered 70 capsules containing a white powdery substance.

Subsequent diagnostic tests confirmed the substance to be cocaine, weighing a total of 1,472.5 grams. The narcotics were promptly seized, and the suspect was placed under arrest, following standard procedures by the customs department.
