West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose, initially scheduled to visit Chopra to meet the publicly flogged couple, altered his plans and instead went to Cooch Behar upon his return from New Delhi on Tuesday morning. In Cooch Behar, he met with alleged victims of other atrocities.

Authorities revealed that the couple, flogged by now-arrested local Trinamool Congress (TMC) strongman Tajemul Islam in Chopra, did not attend the meeting with the Governor. An official stated, 'The victims of the Chopra flogging incident did not attend. The Governor met with victims of other atrocities.'

Bose had initially requested a report from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the Chopra incident that sparked public outrage. He is expected to submit his findings to the central government. Meanwhile, Tajemul Islam, facing charges from attempted murder to grievous hurt, remains in police custody.
